NEW POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW OPPORTUNITY

November 30, 2021 - We are pleased to announce an opening for a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences and Center for Systems Neuroscience at Boston University. The postdoc will work on collaborative projects in the domain of computational psychiatry involving the laboratories of Dr. Benjamin Scott and Dr. Joe McGuire.

The research will involve acquiring large behavioral data sets with computerized decision-making tasks and using computational models to relate behavior-derived parameters to clinically relevant individual differences. One ongoing project focuses on perceptual integration and decision making in humans in the context of Autism Spectrum Disorders. A second project focuses on impulsivity and goal-directed persistence. The position additionally includes opportunities to undertake projects involving neural imaging experiments in humans or in rodent models. Selection of specific projects and research directions will be guided by the candidate's interests and career development goals.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates should have strong quantitative skills and should have experience using behavioral data to develop and evaluate theoretical models of cognitive/neural processes. Additional experience in one or more of the following areas is valued: cognitive psychology, systems/computational neuroscience, decision science/neuroeconomics, human neuroimaging, or clinical psychology/psychiatry.

Applicants should email a CV and a brief note describing their interests to Dr. Scott at bbs@bu.edu and/or Dr. McGuire at jtmcg@bu.edu. The position is externally funded and the initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be supported in applying for external fellowship awards (e.g., Helen Hay Whitney, NSF, NIH NRSA, K99) as preparation for an independent research career.
