Urvi began her academic journey studying cell fate switch mechanisms during early neurodevelopment. Having explored the molecular nitty-gritties of how the brain builds itself, she is now interested in what phenomenon dictate how we make decisions.
Fun Facts
How did you get into science?
My mom was a high-school biology teacher. So it only made sense for me to appreciate all science and I was motivated with the idea that I could discover something so fundamental that it would become a part of high-school curriculum.
What is a day in the lab like for you?
It ranges from juggling classes and TA-ship, to doing surgeries, multiphoton imaging, scavenging for free food in no particular order.
What are your favorite lab tools?
I believe that good forceps make great experimentalists.
What is your favorite lab meeting food?
Anything that's filling.
